After our new batik duvet cover was complete, the walls had to be painted to match, of course. We decided on taupe to pick up the tones in the duvet, with a darker shade on the bed wall and a lighter shade elsewhere.
We moved Grandma's batik wallhanging to a more prominent location:
And, since she was the inspiration for it all, we included a photo of her making a batik in the room. It was taken for an interview for the Austin American-Stateman, I think. (Note to self: need to search the archives at the Austin History Center for the article.)
I matted the photo with a scrap of yet another of her works of batik art:
