Senior Soiree

Last weekend was the Senior Soiree, a private formal that several moms put together at a historic house downtown. It was hot and humid, but a lovely event. We even got a snarky mention in the society page:

"...at the Westwood High Senior Soiree at the Allen House on Friday. Truth be told, many of the graduating students milling through the historic house at 11th and San Antonio streets were slathered with sweat. Their ever-watchful chaperones appeared crisp and relaxed in comparison. The older generation, familiar with Out and About [his column], delighted at their offispring looking sharp for a social columnist's photos, but, frankly, the kids probably preferred slinking through the gardens to the sound of Soulja Boy."

I was the photographer for the second shift and here are a few of the photos to give you an idea of how fab it was:

Highlights included:
  • Catered goodies, including a chocolate fountain and virgin margaritas
  • DJ and dance floor
  • Blackjack tables
  • A caricaturist
  • Sparklers
  • Videotaped messages from Rick Barnes (UT basketball coach) and Reid Ryan (Nolan's son, owner of the local minor league team)
  • Fabulous door prizes, including two flat-screen TVs
  • Parting gifts with a proclamation from the governor and the mayor (and even better, WHS Class of 08 M&Ms!)
Em went with her friend, Page, and they had a wonderful time.
