Book Review: People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

I was in the mood to get swept away by a book and this one fit the purpose. It’s a fictional look, loosely based on real events, of the efforts to save a beautiful ancient Jewish book. First check in its favor: it’s about a book. The backdrops of Sarajevo, London, Sydney, Vienna, Venice, Boston, Tarragona, Sevilla, Jerusalem, and the Australian wilderness give it the second check: exotic locations. Finally, the details about book conservation and the history included in the story line made it a very enjoyable read. It should be out in paperback soon. Check it out!
